BbKRT successfully completes its debut season in WorldSBK: Alex Lowes finishes sixth in the championship and Axel Bassani secures tenth place, both inside the Top 10.
The stage was the Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto on Sunday, October 19. During the 20-lap final race, Alex Lowes (#22) once again fought among the front runners, finishing sixth after running fifth for the first five laps. Axel Bassani (#47), meanwhile, was tenth in Race Two, earning six more championship points to reinforce his top-ten credentials with the new WorldSBK machine.
Having already secured sixth place overall in the Riders’ Championship in his first season aboard the new Bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team KB998 Rimini, the combined results of Lowes and Bassani in Jerez marked a positive end to what has been an impressive debut season for the entire BbKRT team.
Lowes stated:
“I’m very grateful for the work that’s been done; it’s impressive. From a mechanical point of view, the KB998 Rimini is a new bike and we haven’t had any issues. That shows the great job done by the engineers and mechanics. I’m proud of them. Now, as always in racing, we’ll analyse, reflect and try to improve over the winter to come back stronger next year.”
Axel Bassani added:
“It’s been a good season because everything was new for us, but we were always there, fighting for good positions. We finished inside the top ten in the Riders’ Championship, which is very positive for a new bike and a new project.”
The 2026 season will begin at Phillip Island in late February, although the first on-track preparations will take place again in Jerez in two days’ time, with private testing scheduled between October 21 and 22.
